On May 13, 2020, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a new classification for MSME to integrate the manufacturing and services segment and added revenue along with investments to classify MSMEs into world-class micro, small, and medium. The Union Cabinet approved this new classification on June 1, 2020, resulting in the UDYAM registration process came into effect from 1st July 2020.

Here is a step-by-step guide to the MSME Udyam registration process

The MSME registration process is completely online, paperless, and based on self-notification. Besides registering, only a reference number is required. 2: Click on ‘New Post’ on the homepage. You will receive a registration form

3: Enter the relevant ‘Aadhaar Number’ and ‘Entrepreneur Name’ and click on ‘Verify & Create OTP’

4: Enter the necessary details on the verification page

5: Then, the Udyam Registration Box will appear where you have to fill in all the details asked for

6: After registering successfully, you will get a ‘thank you’ message with the registration number starting with ‘Udyam’.
